Marc Rovetti

Violinist Marc Rovetti joined The Philadelphia Orchestra in 2007 and was named Assistant Concertmaster beginning with the 2009-10 season. Previously he was a member of the New World Symphony and the International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE). He was a member of the award-winning Rothko String Quartet and performed extensively with the Mark Morris Dance Group Ensemble.
 
A strong advocate for new music, Mr. Rovetti has worked closely with composers Augusta Read Thomas, Bernard Rands, and Magnus Lindberg, and has collaborated with many young composers during ICE residencies at New York, Columbia, and Northwestern universities. In addition he has performed with Network for New Music in Philadelphia as well as the Dolce Suono Ensemble.
 
Born and raised in Hartford, Connecticut, Mr. Rovetti made his solo debut with the Atlanta Symphony in 2005. He holds both Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from the Juilliard School and attended New York University. His principal teachers were Ronald Copes and Pamela Frank. During his time at NYU he also served as adjunct violin faculty.
