Loren Lind

Loren Lind was born and raised in Honolulu. Before coming to Philadelphia he lived, at various times, in Jamaica, Thailand, Germany and Japan. In Japan he studied flute with the principal flute of the NHK Orchestra. He has also studied with the principal flutists of the Honolulu Symphony, the Seattle Symphony and after coming to Philadelphia, then principal flutist, Murray Panitz. In 1974 he joined the Philadelphia Orchestra, as 2nd flutist. In addition to playing in the orchestra, he is on the faculty at Temple Univ., where he has taught private lessons, coached student ensembles and was a founding member of the faculty woodwind quintet. Loren has been a soloist and chamber music performer, especially in the Philadelphia area, since first moving here in 1969.
