Jonathan Blumenfeld
Member of the Philadelphia Orchestra Oboe Section since 1986.
Previously was a member of the Concerto Soloists of Philadelphia, and Principal Oboist of the Savannah Symphony.
Graduate of Haverford College and the Curtis Institute of Music.
Student of John de Lancie, (Curtis and privately while at Haverford), John Mack (Blossom Music Festival), Jerome Roth (High School), Richard Woodhams (Temple University).
He is on the oboe faculty of Temple and Rutgers Universities.
Solo recordings include works by Rimsky-Korsakov, Curt Caccioppo, Howard Hanson, and an upcoming release of Jennifer Higdon’s Concerto with the Wind Symphony of Temple University.
Outside activities include art collecting, foreign language, and rowing on the Schuylkill.
